Something to share -10 March 2012

I call my parents today on skype where they lived in a small town just outside KL, Malaysia. My parents doesn't have a computer so they can't see my blog and my picture. I'm super excited that l'm visiting them this year and telling them how important internet have been in our daily life. I did webcam with them when they visiting my sister so they did see my handmade pillow and they are happy and supporting.

I feel so much better after talking to them. I was feeling defeated maybe because i want mentally support and after talking to my mum i feel i can achieve anything i want if i work hard and not giving up.

I always forget to ask my mum how she learn sewing every time i phoned her. Today, i remember and ask her and i found out that she also self-taught and brought herself a sewing machine just like me. I can't express how great feeling i feel inside. Those day they don't have alot of sewing classes in the 1950's and it not cheap. My mum have very little education as she came from a poor family so to learn in English is definitely impossible. So, my thought is she learn sewing with others friends and apply for a factory job in her early 20s.

I'm going to take lots of picture of my mum, her Singer paddling sewing machine ( i don't know what model) and also the tote bag & string pouch i made for both of them as i sent it via Air Mail. I haven't seen them nearly 3.5 years since 2008. Also, the Hello Kitty sling bag i made for my niece, i want to give her and i haven't seen her since her birth in 2010.

I embroider my butterflies logo that would be nice to put on my blog.

I want to make a small announcement. I want to thank all my friends for their great unselfish opinions and help on my new hobby turn business. I recently open an ebay accounts and look forward selling my pillows there. I do have a domain website www.yc-leung.co.uk but because I'm self-funded, I'm not able to promote that site without making investment on advertising and a professional done website with SSL Certificate (Secure Socket layer) secured website.

As some of you already know my mum is a home sewer and i inherit her hobby couples of years back and self-taught myself for 2 years. Now i start blogging about my handmade pillow. I want to take my passion for sewing to a next level and work hard toward making beautiful pillow.
I will announce later when my ebay is up and running.

Just in time to finished a Valentine Day for a new love couples!

Valentine's Day or i would called it Cupid's Day should be celebrate everyday for every couples not only on the 14th February. Nothing more special than having personalised embroidery specially made entirely for your love one. So when you can't find what to get this is the perfect unique gift!

I have an idea of putting my testing embroidery photo into my website(menu bar) and replace the current web photo i download!  

Can wait to put into action. Just so much to do redesign my website,blogging, making new design and not forget to sew up the pillow. 

My next thing to do is uploading video on Youtube for my pillow but that have to wait since i need to learn how to make a video! There so much video making on the net to choose just need the easier one also feel complicated!

 This wooden frame (long life, joy/happiness & love) was given to me from a client and work well with my handmade fabric red packet for newly married couples. 

PS. Fabric red packet are reusable. (cut down paper making)

Chinese New Year decoration! Must have red definitely!

Feel like missing something on the pic 1 (empty looking) i added on some lanterns. Thinking the red packets is really big! Will make smaller packet for next year (2013) which is Year of Snake! My year! Exciting!

 PS. With embroidery the logo and company name last longer and does not fading away after washing and better quality than printing type. Polo Shirt, T-Shirt are great too with embroidery.

Sewing process

Going to sent some to my mom to use. Not sure she will use it to give away during Chinese New Year because it does look pretty and nice little keeping because it does not torn apart (not like paper red packet)unless you cut it apart with scissor.
I must admit paper 'RED PACKET' does look stunning with multi colour but there is good n bad using paper on everything!!! Hope there is people who agree with me.

 Chinese New Year is coming soon January 2012!! YEAR OF DRAGON!! 

So, i got this cool idea of making an embroidery design !

What do you think? i wanna make a red packet that made out of fabric to avoid buying paper red packet! We really need to be environment cautious!!! paper red packet have been use for centuries but toss it away(recycle) each time we received is something we should change. Moreover there is too much paper, plastic, tin, glass, bottle that we try recycle . Process like melting this undissolved material really costly.

Just finished Embroidery, waiting for spare time to sew in Lace, stuffing, ribbon! How i wish God give me 48 hrs a day instead!! Do you agree?

What do u hang on your christmas tree?

Popcorn & Ginger Bread

Actually, at first i thought WHAT!! Ginger Bread n Popcorn hang on the Christmas Tree ' Are they crazy?' then, my brain start to think wisely,maybe it is good because one less plastic to make and foods will dissolve and rotten on the soil. Plastic will not. So, what you think??

Personalised Embroidery Christmas Pillow for a friend who brought it for her great granddaughter.

1.  AFTER EMBROIDERY AND FOLD THE CORNER FOR SEWING SEAM ALLOWANCE

2. SEW IN LACE COMPLETED

3. STUFF POLYESTER FILLING (my fav part)   AND IT DONE!

Oh! there is also ribbon to sew up, label on the back. Actually the difficult part is the embroidery and making sure the title name, image are in the centre!
